Why is there a Transorb in my otherise understandable diagram?

Here is a smple of a Citation III diagram:

Notice that the transorb is ACROSS the coil of the solenoid.

Note that the thermostat switch controls the coil.

There are two keys to understanding what the transorb does.

1. The transorb is wired across the coil of the air solenoid. It slows the Field Collapse when the thermostat opens.

2. The propose of the transorb is to protect the THERMOSTAT SWITCH.
